If you find yourself in need of placing a service call on your printer, fax, copier or other office machines here are some helpful tips.

Questions to ask before placing a service call

  • Have you looked in the user manual for any relevent information?
  • Does the manufacturer have any free online support?
  • Will changing the toner or ink cartridge solve the problem?
  • Is this an intermittent problem or does it happens all the time?
  • Is this machine still under warranty?
  • Is this machine under a maintenance contract?

Questions to ask your repair company

  • Is this a warranty repair?
  • Do they come to you?
  • Are there any additional travel charges?
  • Is there a discount if you bring the equipment to them?
  • What is the hourly rate and in what increments is it billed in?
  • Do they provide warranty for the work they perform?
  • Do they charge extra for parts?
  • How long will it take to fix the machine?
  • Should the machine be on or off when tech arrives?
